Job Summary

  • To provide full accounting support to Management.
  • To ensure timely and accurate reporting which is fully compliant with all the accounting policies.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure all intra-company transactions are correctly accounted for and agreed.
  • Support Management with other activities as and when required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce a draft budget for the financial year.
  • Liaise with budget holders to get initial views on required spend for the following year.
  • Prepare following year budget for Management.
  • Produce quarterly Management accounts in time for quarterly Board Meetings. Assist in ensuring the integrity of WNM’s General Ledger balances and also perform reconciliation of all transactions.
  • Record and post all financial transactions into the accounting system on a daily basis.
  • Review and consolidate expense reports on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic financial and management accounts.
  • Prepare all bank reconciliation statements and follow up to ensure proper resolution of any issues identified.
  • Maintain fixed assets records and ensure accurate upload of all fixed assets in the fixed assets register.
  • Record depreciation of fixed assets in line with accounting policies and standards.
  • Review and reconcile fixed assets register on a monthly basis.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Periodically reconcile and coordinate physical stock taking of fixed assets to ensure proper location and existence of all fixed assets.
  • Liaise with Operations to ascertain actual position of Goods-In-Transit to enable determination of applicable accounting treatment for goods.
  • Ensure accurate and complete posting of the Company’s inventory in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Conduct periodic stock valuation exercise and pass relevant entries to reflect actual inventory position.
  • Reconcile client accounts and update as required.
  • Maintain all records of taxation activities including tax liabilities and payments and provide adequate proof of remittances for tax audit exercises.
  • Prepare and ensure prompt rendition of personal income tax.
  • Process staff loans and personal advances.
  • Obtain approvals and disburse cash and other payments to suppliers and employees as required. Process bills/ invoices presented for payment by the Company’s vendors, suppliers and other service providers.
  • Prepare client hilling schedule and submit invoice to clients.
  • Maintain ageing report of outstanding liabilities to third-party entities and provide relevant explanations as required.
  • Prepare periodic reports on all invoices processed and received.
  • Review requests and supporting documents to ensure validity, accuracy and completeness. Update the financial records of the business as appropriate, including invoices, vendor accounts, fixed assets, inventory and other GL accounts.
  • Respond to internal and third-party enquires regarding payments processing. Ensure accuracy of computations on salary schedule.
  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available in the bank accounts to meet cash flow requirements.

Competency and Skill Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Intermediate understanding of local and International Accounting Standards and practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge or state, local, and federal income tax legislation. Intermediate knowledge of stock taking and valuation standards and practices.

  • Accurate and prompt reconciliation of all General Ledger (GL) accounts.

  • Compliance with accounting guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Timeliness and accuracy of stock reports.
  • Prompt processing of invoice due to/ from clients, vendors and staff.
  • Turnaround time in executing assigned tasks.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of reports prepared. Timely installation of infrastructure and deployment of access control rules.
  • Timely resolution of faults.
  • Compliance with customer’s operational procedures.
  • Compliance with safety and quality policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • First degree or equivalent qualification in accounting or any finance related discipline.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (ACA, CIMA, CPA, ACCA).
  • 3-5 years post qualifications experience in a similar role.
  • Hands-on practical experience with the use of the Sage 50 accounting software.
