Driver/Logistics Assistant (Jos) in an International Christian Development Organization

Position: Driver/Logistics Assistant (Jos)

Location: Jos, Nigeria

Contract: June 2017 to April 2013

Objective: Under the supervision of the Disability-Inclusive Development (DID) Advisor, the Driver/Logistics Assistant (Jos) shall provide a variety of transportation support to the DID Advisor based in Jos. The position will also provide logistics/administrative support to the CBN staff in Jos.

Control of vehicles

  • Ensure that all vehicle journeys are authorized in advance by line manager Ensure that all vehicle journeys are to be recorded in the log book at the start and completion of the journey
  • Ensure that the keys and vehicle documents are kept in an agreed secure place when the vehicle is not in use
  • Ensure that s/he wears the vehicle safety belt, and all passengers also wear seat belts before driving the vehicle
  • Ensure no use of phone while driving
  • Ensure no weapons in the vehicle

Vehicle checks

  • Check the vehicle prior to its use in the morning and after use
  • Check the vehicle before departing from work
  • Check, on taking over a vehicle, that the items listed on the Vehicle Check list and the items listed in the Vehicle tools and Materials inventory are present and in full functioning order
  • A driver is to check for vehicle defects and damage to the vehicle and ensure that he reports them to his line manager for decision as to whether or not the vehicle should be taken off the road for repair
  • Report and supervise all maintenance and repair needs of assign vehicle

Logistics

In collaboration with the receptionist and accountant,

  • Perform basic office related tasks such as filing, photocopying and maintaining stores when required, including delivery/collection of various items, mailing service and payment of office telephone and other bills to ensure administrative support to staff
  • Trace, track and expedite procurement processes
  • Create and maintain contact with vendors and customers to ensure timely delivery of

Goods

  • Interact with third party logistics service providers
  • Review bills, invoices and purchase orders
  • Ensure all payments are processed on time
  • Monitor and facilitate repair orders
  • Coordinate deliveries for repaired or returned items
  • Dispose of unserviceable or damaged items
  • Conduct safety procedures and audit of the office

SELECTION PROCESS:
