JOB TITLE: PROFESSOR

REQUIREMENTS: Holders of PhD Degrees with specialization in the relevant disciplines applied for with evidence of academic leadership in terms of publications, project designs, monitoring and administrative leadership of at least 10 years of post-qualification experience of teaching and research.

JOB TITLE: ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

REQUIREMENTS: Holders of PhD Degrees with specialization in the relevant disciplines applied for with evidence of academic leadership in terms of publications, project designs, monitoring and administrative leadership of at least 7 years of post-qualification experience of teaching and research.

JOB TITLE: SENIOR LECTURER

REQUIREMENTS: Holders of PhD Degrees with specialization in the relevant disciplines applied for with evidence of academic leadership in terms of publications, project designs, monitoring and administrative leadership of at least 5 years of post-qualification experience of teaching and research.

JOB TITLE: LECTURER I

REQUIREMENTS: Holders of PhD Degrees with specialization in the relevant disciplines applied for with evidence of academic leadership in terms of publications, project designs, monitoring and administrative leadership of at least 3 years of post-qualification experience of teaching and research.

JOB TITLE: LECTURER II

REQUIREMENTS: Holders of PhD Degrees with specialization in the relevant disciplines applied for with evidence of academic leadership in terms of publications, project designs, monitoring and administrative leadership of at least a year of post qualification experience of teaching and research.

JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT LECTURER

REQUIREMENTS: Holders of masters’ degree in relevant disciplines with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a similar institution. Evidence of research and scholar publications in reputable or recognized journals. The masters’ degree must be in good standing to pursue a PhD degree.

 

NON-ACADEMIC VACANCIES

JOB TITLE: VICE CHANCELLOR

THE CANDIDATE: The vice chancellor shall be the executive and academic head of the university and shall see to the day to day administration of the university and ensures that the objectives and goals of the universities are met. S/he shall be responsible to the Governing Council and must be competent at all times to advise the council on matters affecting the policy, finance and administration of the university. The applicant for this job shall possess the ability to lead, motivate and inspire and academic and non-academic staff as well as students and other stakeholders towards the advancement of learning and academic excellence of the university. S/he must be a distinguished scholar, a proven manager of human and material resources with outstanding academic and administrative records.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess a doctorate degree and be a Professor of not less than ten (10) years academic and administrative experience in the University Community. However, Candidates with lesser years of experience but with proven cognate experience and who have held senior academic and administrative positions may also be considered. Candidates should possess proven track records of academic excellence with a high level of entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract extra funds and mobilize external resources for the development of the University. S/he shall demonstrate inter-personal and team building skills with ability to motivate and retain highly skilled and talented staff, and be able to build bridges between members of staff, students and other stakeholders of the University Community. S/he must demonstrate a high level of computer literacy and enjoys an excellent sound mind, stable physical and mental health.

TENURE OF OFFICE: The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for a period of five (5) years and shall not be eligible for reappointment into same office. His term and Conditions of service shall be outlined in a contract under the seal of the University. The Remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as applicable to the Post of Vice Chancellors in the Republic of Gambia or other West African Countries and as may be determined by the Governing Council of the University.

JOB TITLE: REGISTRAR

THE CANDIDATE: The Registrar shall be the Chief Administrative officer of the University. S/he acts as secretary of the senate and governing council and as such other authorities or bodies or committees as prescribed under the University Law. Subject to the approval of the governing council of the University, the Registrar shall on behalf of the University signs document and authenticate records as pertaining to students at any level of training in the University. He shall be the custodian of records, common seal and such other property of the University as the governing may commit to his charge.

REQUIREMENTS: A master degree preferably in the Humanities, Law, Social Sciences or Management Science/Administration from a recognized university plus at least twelve (12) years relevant post-qualification cognate experience. Membership of recognized professional bodies is mandatory. A high level of computer literacy is mandatory for this position.

TENURE OF OFFICE: The Registrar shall hold office for a period of five (5) years and may be eligible for reappointment into same office for five (5) years. His term and Conditions of service shall be outlined in a contract under the seal of the University. JOB TITLE: BURSAR

REQUIREMENTS: A master degree in Accountancy with 12 years post qualification experience. Membership of Professional recognized Accountancy Qualifications is mandatory. Must be able to demonstrate ability to formulate and implement financial policies and produce manuals of accounting procedure. A high level of computer literacy is mandatory for this position.

TENURE OF OFFICE: The Bursar shall hold office for a period of five (5) years and may be eligible for reappointment into same office for five (5) years. His term and Conditions of service shall be outlined in a contract under the seal of the University. The remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as applicable to the Post of Registrar in the Republic of Gambia or other West African Countries and as may be determined by the Governing Council of the University. A high level of computer literacy is mandatory for this position.

JOB TITLE: LIBRARIAN

REQUIREMENTS: A master Degree in Library Science plus at least ten (10) years post-qualification cognate experience. A high level of computer literacy is mandatory for this position.

TENURE OF OFFICE: The Librarian shall hold office for a period of five (5) years and may be eligible for reappointment into same office for five (5) years. His term and Conditions of service shall be outlined in a contract under the seal of the University. JOB TITLE: ACADEMIC PLANNING OFFICER

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should possess a good honours degree preferably in the Humanities, Law, Social Sciences or Management Sciences with Six (6) years cognate experience in a tertiary institution. Computer literacy is mandatory. Masters’ degree will be an added advantage for this position.

JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (ADMISSION)

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should possess a good honours degree preferably in the Humanities, Law, Social Sciences or Management Sciences with Six (6) years cognate experience in a tertiary institution. Computer literacy is mandatory.

JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (ADMIN AND RECORDS)

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should possess a good honours degree preferably in the Humanities, Law, Social Sciences or Management Sciences with Six (6) years cognate experience in a tertiary institution. Computer literacy is mandatory.

JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTING OFFICER

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should possess a good honours degree in Accounting with Six (6) years cognate experience in a tertiary institution. Computer literacy and Membership of recognized Professional Accountancy Qualifications is mandatory.

JOB TITLE: INTERNAL AUDITOR

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should possess a good honours degree in Accounting or related disciplines with Six (6) years cognate experience in a tertiary institution. Membership of recognized Professional bodies is a plus and Computer literacy is mandatory.

JOB TITLE: PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have a good honours degree from a recognised University in Mass Communication or Public Relations or other relevant degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences with at least six years cognate experience plus evidence of membership registration with relevant and recognized professional body.

JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL TECHNOLOGISTS (LABORATORY)

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must possess B.Sc. / HND from a recognized institution in relevant areas with at least 6 years of relevant post-qualification work experience.

REQUIREMENTS: The candidate should possess HND in Secretariat Studies or Office Management Technology with seven (7) years’ experience plus demonstrable ability for 120/50 wpm in shorthand/typing.

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should possess National Diploma (ND) in Secretariat Studies or Office Management Technology, with a demonstrable ability for 100/50 wpm in short hand/typing, with four (4) years cognate experience.

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have RN or RM plus post-registration experience or specialist qualification in intensive care nursing, Coronary Care Nursing or Public Health; or Bachelor of Nursing plus five (5) years post-qualification experience.

JOB TITLE: NURSING OFFICERS

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have RN or RM plus post-registration experience or specialist qualification in intensive care nursing, Coronary Care Nursing or Public Health; or Bachelor of Nursing plus three (3) years post-qualification experience.

JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY HEALTH OFFICERS

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must hold a good honours degree in Community Health plus three (3) years post-qualification experience. Candidates must be registered with the regulating professional body.

JOB TITLE: ICT PROFESSIONAL

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have B.Eng. /B. Tech. (Computer, Electrical and Electronic Engineering/ B.Sc. Computer Science/ B.Sc. Telecommunications/ Physics/ Electronics/ HND Electrical Electronics/ Computer Science. CCNA, MCSE/RHCT/MCP and other relevant certifications in software development and networking would be an added advantage.

JOB TITLE: CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be at least a retired Superintendent of Police or its equivalent in the Armed Forces with a good honours degree and must have at least 12 years working experience.

JOB TITLE: SPORT MANAGER/COACH

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must possess a good honours degree and must have requisite experience in sports administration and sports groundsmanship with at least 8 years of experience after graduation.

JOB TITLE: SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must possess a good honours degree in Environmental Health or related disciplines plus full registration with the regulating professional body. Candidates must also have five (5) years post-registration experience.

JOB TITLE: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must possess a diploma certificate in Environmental Health Technology or Technician Course plus full registration with the regulating professional body. Candidates must also have three (3) years post-registration experience.

JOB TITLE: LIBRARY ASSISTANT

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must possess a diploma certificate in Library Science or related discipline plus full registration with the regulating professional body. Candidates must also have three (3) years post-registration experience. Candidates with good O- level Certificates plus over five (5) years relevant working experience in a tertiary institution library will be considered for this position.
