Abt Associates seeks Kano Finance Assistant to support a private sector TB project under SHOPS Plus. SHOPS Plus is USAID’s flagship initiative in private sector health. The project seeks to harness the full potential of the private sector and catalyze public-private engagement to improve health outcomes in TB, family planning, HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, and other health areas.
In Nigeria, SHOPS Plus will capacitate private providers to scale up tuberculosis case finding, diagnosis, treatment and reporting in Lagos and Kano States.
The Finance Assistant, under the supervision of the State Coordinator and the direction of the Lagos-based Senior Finance Manager, is responsible for all accounting processes of the SHOPS Plus/Nigeria Office in Kano in accordance with Abt Associates and Abt Development Foundation (ADF) established financial policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s (BS) degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other relevant field.
Three (3) years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a development work setting.
Proficient communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills. Demonstrated self-management skills and ability to work with limited supervision. Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in Microsoft Word processing, spreadsheets and accounting software, with knowledge of Quicken software or other accounting platforms, a plus. Knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lumps sum, not-to-exceed and how they are applied in the billing process. Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills desirable.
Strong service orientation and ability to work effectively in a challenging and diverse socioeconomic and cultural environment.
