The Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (MAN, Oron) is the premier Maritime’ training institution statutorily established in Nigeria. The Academy has the following functions;

To admit and train the various, levels of personnel required for running and operating ships of the merchant navy.

To Train technical manpower for ports, marine engineering, workshops, piloting and navigation, marine insurance, Hydrography and other related services and.

To provide such other forms of instruction as the Academy may, from time to time decide to undertake.

The Academy requires the employment of Principal and other Management officers including the following (as listed below)

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions in Schools and Departments-as follows:

SCHOOL OF MARINE ENGINEERING

Position: Chief Lecturer: CONPCASS 9

Applicants for the post of Chief Lecturer in the School of Marine Engineering must possess the following qualifications:

First Class (Engine) Foreign going certificate of Competency with at least 5years experience at Sea.

Ph.D Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University with at least twelve (12) years teaching, research and administrative experience in a University or the Polytechnic

Or

Master Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering from recognised University with at least 15 years of teaching and applied research/industrial experience

Candidate should possess evidences of scholarly publications in local, national and international reputable academic journals, plus membership of relevant professional bodies.

Chapter’s contributions in relevant text books

Or

Relevant Text Books

Presented at least three papers in conferences locally or internationally.

Position: Assistant Chief Lecturer: CONPCASS 8

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Assistant Chief Lecturer in the School of Marine Engineering must be holder of the following qualifications:

First Class (Engine) Foreign going certificate of competency with at least 3 years cognate experience at sea.

Ph.D Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with nine (9) years cognate experience or Master’s Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with at least twelve (12) years cognate experience

Evidence of scholarly publication in reputable local, national and international academic journals plus membership of relevant Professional Bodies.

Relevant Text Books

Presented at least three papers in conferences locally or internationally

Position: Senior Lecturer: CONPCASS 7

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Senior Lecturer in Marine Engineering must possess the following qualifications:

First Class Certificate of Competency Foreign Going (Engine) or 2nd Class Certificate of Competency with 3 years cognate experience.

Ph.D Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with 6 years of teaching and applied research work experience

Or

Master Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with at least nine (9) years relevant experience

Evidence of Scholarly publications in reputable local, national and international academic journals plus membership of relevant professional bodies.

Chapter’s contributions in relevant Text Books

Or

Relevant Text Books

Presented at least three papers in conferences locally or internationally

Position: Lecturer I: CONPCASS 5

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Lecturer I must possess the following qualifications:

2nd Class Certificate of Competency Foreign Going (Engine) with at least 4 years cognate experience.

Ph.D Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years cognate experience

Or

Master Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with at least six (6) years cognate experience

Evidence of Scholarly publications in reputable local, national and international academic journals plus membership of relevant professional bodies.

Position: Lecturer II: CONPCASS 3

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Lecturer II must possess the following qualifications:

2nd Class Certificate of competency Foreign Going (Engine) with a cognate experience.

Ph.D Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with cognate experience

Or

Master Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years cognate experience

Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable local, national and international academic journals plus membership of relevant Professional Bodies.

Presented at least three papers in conferences locally or internationally

Position: Assistant Lecturer CONPCASS 2

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Assistant Lecturer must possess the following qualifications:

Master Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with at least three (3) years cognate experience

Position: Chief Instructor: CONPCASS 7

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Chief Instructor must possess the following qualification:

 

2nd Class Certificate of Competency Foreign going (Engine) with 9 years cognate experience.

Higher National Diploma in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, with at least nine (9) years cognate experience.

Reports of 3 projects supervised

Position: Assistant Chief Instructor CONPCASS 6

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Assistant Chief Instructor must possess the following qualifications:

2nd Class Certificate of Competency Foreign going (Engine) with six (6) years cognate experience.

Higher National Diploma in Marine or Mechanical Engineering.

Reports of 2 projects supervised.

Position: Principal Instructor: CONPCASS 5

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Principal Instructor must possess the following qualifications:

2nd Class Certificate of Competency Foreign Going (Engine) with at least 3 years cognate experience

HND in Marine or Mechanical Engineering.

Reports of one (1) project supervised.

Position: Senior Instructor: CONPCASS 3

Qualification:

Applicants for the post of Senior Instructor must possess the following qualifications:

OOW or 2nd Class (NCV) or 1st Class (NCV) Certificate of Competency with a minimum of four (4) years cognate sea experience.

Higher National Diploma in Marine or Mechanical Engineering.
