The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Programme (MNCH2) is a country led programme which aims to reduce maternal and child mortality in Northern Nigeria and it is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID). The MNCH2 programme is being implemented in six states in northern Nigeria: Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Yobe and Zamfara States.

SUMMARY PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

Options Consultancy Services Limited is seeking an Integrated Service Delivery & Quality of Care Advisor to be based in Kano to contribute and work within a programme called Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Programme (MNCH2); S/he will provide strategic leadership and oversight of Quality of Care (QoC), service delivery and demand strategies.

MNCH2 is a country-led programme, improving the quality, coverage and demand for integrated maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), routine immunisation (Rl) services, and healthy timing and spacing of pregnancy (HTSP)-a more holistic and culturally-appropriate concept that goes beyond simply the use of family planning (FP) methods-in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, and Zamfara to accelerate reductions in maternal, newborn and child deaths.

Qualifications & Experience

An advanced degree in public health or a relevant field.

At least experience of working on large international development programmes in the area of accountability, governance and advocacy in the health sector.

Experience with the development of Quality of Care and Service Delivery strategies and in having a leading role in the implementation of these strategies, overseeing a large team of highly skilled professionals, under a large development programme in Nigeria.

Understanding and experience working with key existing MNCH and RI strategies in Nigeria.

A sound understanding of MNCH, RI and FP supply and demand approaches, and existing gaps in the implementation of such approaches in Northern Nigeria.

In depth experience working effectively with LGA, State and Federal level authorities.
