VACANCIES: REGISTRAR, UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN, BURSAR, DEPUTY REGISTRAR, DEPUTY UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN AND DEPUTY BURSAR

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above named posts at The TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, IBADAN.

THE UNIVERSITY

The Technical University, Ibadan (Tech-U), the first of its kind in Nigeria and an initiative of the Oyo State Government, was established to expand access to Qualitative Univer­sity Education and more importantly to address the employability gaps through entrepreneurial orientation of the aver­age Nigerian youth.

Tech-U, which was licensed by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) as the 38th State University and 125th University in the Nigerian University System in December, 2012, is situated on a 200 hectare expanse of land along Ibadan-Lagos Expressway in the Free Trade Zone Area in which about 175 local and foreign manufacturing compa­nies will establish presence and carry out their operations.

MISSION

The mission of the University is to:

Provide a training and learning environment that produces exceptional graduates who are ethically well-grounded, socially-conscious, technically comp­etent and abreast of recent technological breakthroughs and advances in their respective fields of endeavour.

Engage in research, consultancy and development activities in all technical and managerial aspects of the industrial sector.

Embed employability skills in the teaching and learning of students

Take leadership role in promoting the economic development of Oyo State and the society at large through tailor- made education, training and outreach activities.

CONDITION OF SERVICE FOR REGISTRAR, UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN AND BURSAR

The appointment is for a fixed term of five (5) years, renewable

for one year subject to satisfactory performance as may be determined by the Governing Council of The Technical University, Ibadan.

THE POSITION AND DUTIES OF THE REGISTRAR

The Registrar is the Secretary to Council, Senate, Convo­cation and Congregation and numerous statutory Univer­sity committees as defined by the University Laws. He/She shall also perform all other duties assigned to him/her by the Council and/or the Vice Chancellor.

He/She shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University.

He/She is the repository of University documents/ records.

He/She is a Principal Officer and the Chief Administrative – Officer of the University.

He/She is expected to guide on Rules, Regulations and Procedures in University Administration

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate shall possess a good Honours degree not bel­ow Second Class (Lower Division) from a recognised Univer­sity with at least fifteen (15) years relevant cognate experience in University administration out of which a minimum of five (5) years must have been spent in a position not below that of Deputy Registrar in a State/Federal University. Possess­ion of a higher degree and membership of recognized professional bodies will be an added advantage.

Renumeration shall be as approved for this post in the Nigerian University System.

THE POSITION AND DUTIES OF DEPUTY REGISTRAR

Deputy Registrar shall be responsible to and assist the Registrar in the day-to-day administration of the affairs (other than finance) of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must possess a good Honours degree not below Second Class (Lower Division) from a recognized University plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or evidence of Exemption and at least twelve (15) years post-qualification cognate experience, a considerable part of which must have been in University Administration.

Candidate must have spent at least three (3) years on the post not below the grade of Principal Assistant Registrar.

Possession of a higher degree and membership of recognized professional bodies will be an advantage.

SALARY: CONTISS 14

UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

The University Librarian is a Principal office who responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and the co-ordination of library services in the University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must possess a good Honours degree with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from a recogni­zed University, Master and Doctorate degree in Library or Information Science from a recognized University shall be an added advantage.

Candidate must also have at least fifteen (15) years contin­uous experience in an academic Library. A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications both in quality and quantity in reputable national and international journals is also required.

In addition to academic/professional qualifications, the candidate must possess evidence of membership of Library professional bodies and registration with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), which is the regula­tory agency for the practice of Librarianship in Nigeria.

Finally, Candidate must be able to provide academic and administrative leadership and must have spent at least three (3) years as a Deputy University Librarian.

Renumeration shall be as approved for this post in the Nigerian University System.

THE POSITION AND DUTIES OF DEPUTY UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

Deputy University Librarian is to assist the University Librarian in the management of the University library as a critical academic facility.

In the absence of the Librarian, the Deputy Librarian shall act

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must possess a good Honours degree with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from a re­cognized University plus NYSC Discharged Certificate or evidence of Exemption and a Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from a recognized University. The po­ssession of a Ph.D. degree will be an added advantage.

In addition to the academic or professional qualifications, the candidate must possess evidence of membership of library professional bodies and registration with the Librari­an Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), which is the regulatory agency for the practice of librarianship in Nigeria.

The prospective candidate must have put a minimum of ten (10) years of cognate work experience in University Library, three (3) of these years must have been at Library Management position not lower than that of a Principal Librarian or its equivalents.

SALARY: CONUASS 6

THE POSITION AND DUTIES OF THE BURSAR

The Bursar is the Financial Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must possess a good University Honours degree not below Second Class (Lower Division) in Accounting with at least fifteen (15) years relevant cognate experience out of which twelve (12) years must be in University Accounting system or that of comparable Institution of Higher learning or any other arms of the Public Service. Possession of a relev­ant higher degree or Fellow of relevant professional Account­ing bodies will be an added advantage while adequate know­ledge of computer applications and Certificate of the Final Examination of any of the recognized bodies, viz: ICAN, ANAN, ACCA and membership of Chartered Institute of Tax­ation (CITN) for five (5) years or any other recognized and acceptable accounting professional qualification are required.

In addition, the Candidate for the position of Bursar must have managed both local and external funds of a reputable higher institution successfully and must have been exposed to both local and international best practices in accounting profession.

Candidate must have served for at least five (5) years in Senior Management position not lower than Chief Accountant or its equivalents.

Renumeration shall be as approved for this post in the Nigerian University System.

THE POSITION AND DUTIES OF DEPUTY BURSAR

The Deputy Bursar shall be responsible to the Bursar and shall assist him/her in the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The applicant must possess a degree in Accounting from a recognized University with a minimum grade of Second Class (Lower Division) plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or evidence of Exemption with at least twelve (12) years post-qualification experience in University Accounting system or that of a comparable institution. Possession of a relevant higher degree will be an added advantage while adequate knowledge of computer applications and Certific­ate of the Final Examination of any of the recognized bodi­es viz: ICAN, ANAN, ACCA or any other recognized and acceptable accounting professional qualification are com­pulsory. In addition, candidate must possess leadership and administrative skills.
