DEPUTY DIRECTOR-INFORMATION PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC RELATIONS, CHIEF SOFTWARE ENGINEER, MEDICAL OFFICER II AT ONDO STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

VACANCIES: DEPUTY DIRECTOR-INFORMATION PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC RELATIONS, CHIEF SOFTWARE ENGINEER, MEDICAL OFFICER II

ONDO STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa was established by law of the Ondo State House of Assembly in December 2007.

OSUSTECH is a technology-based institution which aims at providing the needed manpower training in order to address the critical needs and technological development of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.

The University is currently running programmes in Engineering, Agriculture, Pure and Applied Sciences. The University has the vision of becoming a leading internationally recognized institution raising a corps of technologically competent individuals, able to respond to the needs of their environment in a technology driven economy. The University seeks to provide sound, scientific, technological and professional training and also identifies technological needs and sustainable development of highest academic and moral standards.

APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS

The University is desirous of recruiting visionary and dynamic individuals to constitute an excellent team of Officers for the University. Consequently, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the positions listed below:

POSITION: DEPUTY DIRECTOR, INFORMATION PROTOCOL AND PUBLIC RELATIONS (CONTISS 14)

QUALIFICATION:

  • Candidates must possess a good Honours Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Journalism/ Mass Communication from a recognized University and
  • A Masters’ degree in relevant discipline OR a good Honours Degree plus a Masters Degree in any other discipline with a Diploma in journalism plus evidence of completion /exemption of NYSC.
  • The Candidate must have a minimum of twelve (12) years cognate experience in a University or a tertiary institution of comparable status. Membership of Nigerian Institute of Public Relation (NIPR) is compulsory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Officer shall be responsible to the Vice – Chancellor for the performance of his assignment.
  • He/ She shall be responsible for the production of the University News Bulletins;
  • Responsible for media monitoring and relations;
  • Responsible for ceremonial links and engagements and
  • Liaison with external bodies among others.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must possess a good Honours Degree (minimum of second class lower division) in Journalism/Mass Communication from a recognized University and a Masters’ degree in relevant Discipline OR a good Honours Degree plus a Masters’ Degree in any other discipline with a Diploma in Journalism plus evidence of completion/exemption of NYSC;
  • The candidate must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience in a University or a Tertiary Institution of comparable status;
  • Knowledge of NBC’s policy and Radio Station Management will be an added advantage;
  • Membership of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is compulsory; and
  • Computer literacy is compulsory.

POSITION: CHIEF SOFTWARE ENGINEER (CONTISS 13)

QUALIFICATION:

  • Candidates must possess a good honours degree (minimum of second class lower division) in Computer Science/ Software Engineering from a recognized University plus evidence of completion /exemption of NYSC plus other requirements as specified by the University.
  • The Candidate must have a minimum of twelve (8) years cognate experience in a University or a tertiary institution of comparable status

Duties of Software Engineers must be able to:

  • Work in a team of developers in several projects;
  • Develop well-optimized and efficient source code for the latest software applications.
  • Produce software tools and amalgamate it to a fully functional software system.
  • Maintain and test software to ensure that it is working properly and in Information Management Sciences
  • Embrace Commercial applications

POSITION: MEDICAL OFFICER II (CONMESS 02)

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess requisite medical qualifications i.e. MBBS or MBCHB and should have completed the one (1) year housemanship and be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE.

The successful applicant will be placed on consolidated salary with relevant fringe benefits and will equally enjoy the allowances normally attached to the positions of Registrar, Director of Works, Deputy Director of Works and Deputy Director, Information/PRO, Medical Officers, System Programmers, Technologists in Nigerian Universities and others as approved by the Governing Council from time to time. Please note that the appointment of Registrar is for a single tenure of five (5) years only.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

(i)      Interested candidates are required to submit twenty (20) copies of Word Processed applications and each should be accompanied by an up-to-date detailed curriculum vitae signed and dated by the applicant which must contain the candidate’s name in full, place and date of birth, marital status, number and ages of children, nationality, academic qualifications with dates degrees/certificates with classes/levels (copies of certificates to be enclosed), administrative experience, academic distinctions, membership of professional bodies with names of three (3) referees.

(ii)     Each application must be accompanied by 20 copies of the candidate’s vision and mission statement (not more than 1000 words) for the Registry or the Works Department at OSUSTECH as applicable.

(iii)    Each candidate must request three referees to forward their Confidential reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor.

(iv)    All applications are to be submitted under confidential cover in sealed envelopes marked “Registrar, Director of Work;” at the upper left hand corner and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa and marked ‘Confidential: for the attention of the Vice-Chancellor’ at the left hand top corner of the envelope to reach him not later than six (6) weeks from the date of publication (1 January, 2020).

(v)     Candidates to note that: No electronic application will be entertained for the positions.
