REGISTRAR, DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES AT ONDO STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

VACANCIES: REGISTRAR, DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES

ONDO STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa was established by law of the Ondo State House of Assembly in December 2007.

OSUSTECH is a technology-based institution which aims at providing the needed manpower training in order to address the critical needs and technological development of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.

The University is currently running programmes in Engineering, Agriculture, Pure and Applied Sciences. The University has the vision of becoming a leading internationally recognized institution raising a corps of technologically competent individuals, able to respond to the needs of their environment in a technology driven economy. The University seeks to provide sound, scientific, technological and professional training and also identifies technological needs and sustainable development of highest academic and moral standards.

APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS

The University is desirous of recruiting visionary and dynamic individuals to constitute an excellent team of Officers for the University. Consequently, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the positions listed below:

POSITION: REGISTRAR

THE POSITION OF REGISTRAR

Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the University except as regards matters for which the Bursar is responsible. The Registrar is also the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.

THE CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A candidate for the position of Registrar must possess a good University Honours Degree (minimum of second class lower) preferably in Humanities or related disciplines and must have at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience, three (3) of which should be at the rank of Deputy Registrar in a University or relevant

institution of higher learning. Possession of a higher degree and membership of recognized professional body is mandatory. The person who will be Registrar given the complexity and scientific nature of the administrative processes of a 21st century University, must not only be a goal getter but must also be able to

show drive, exceptional initiative, great ability for institutional networking with the outside world and must have a suave mien that typifies a 21st Century world class University.

In addition, the ideal candidate shall be:

  • A person of impeccable integrity and strong moral character with ability to relate excellently with staff, students and the general public;
  • A person with an articulate vision for the development of the University in general and the Registry in particular, combined with a strong passion to implement the vision;
  • Highly conversant with the intricacies and peculiarities of the University system;
  • A person of good physical and mental health with positive disposition;
  • Up-to-date in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Skills;
  • A person of strong character, sound leadership skills and ability to instill confidence and engender trust in his/her members of staff;
  • Devoid of any criminal record;
  • Able to demonstrate sagacity and wisdom in the face of crisis of undesirable situations; and
  • Must NOT be more than 60 years old at the point of taking the appointment.

POSITION: DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES: (CONTISS 15)

The Director PP&S, inter alia heads the Directorate, coordinates, supervises and maintains the physical development and projects of the University in such a way as to ensure quality and standard. In discharging these duties, he/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good honours Degree (minimum Second Class Lower) in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or Building Technology from a recognized university;
  • Membership registration of COREN, CORBON, QSRBN, TOPREC, ARCON, CORLOR or any other relevant professional bodies;
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience, five (5) of which shall be in a senior position most of which preferably must be in University or relevant Institution of higher learning
  • The Candidate must have attained the rank of Deputy Director or equivalent;
  • A good knowledge of engineering and environmental design computer packages, including Civil Cad, Archi Cad, Prota Structure, Revit, Matlabetc; and
  • Applicant must also be conversant with the procurement Act 2007 University Contract 2004, University Contract Management and tender procedures. In addition applicant must be duly revealed with the relevant profession regulating body like COREN, QSRBN, ARCON, Position of a higher degree in relevant field will be an added advantage.

Important Notice:

  • Appointments into the Director position is for a period of five (5) years;
  • Candidate must not be more than 60 years of age at the time of appointment;
  • Being a management position, candidate must be of high integrity and capable of commanding the respect and loyalty of staff;
  • The candidate must be receptive to new ideas and be innovative;
  • Possession of higher degrees would be an added advantage; and
  • Candidate must be computer literate and must demonstrate proficiency in the deployment of information and technology in project and cost planning control, management and administration

POSITION: DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES (CONTISS 14)

QUALIFICATION:

  • Candidate must possess a good University Degree (minimum of second class lower division) in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Architecture or Building Technology or Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution.
  • Candidate must have at least twelve 12 years post qualification experience.
  • Applicant must also be conversant with the procedure Act 2009 and University Contract Management tenders procedures.
  • In addition, must be duly registered with the relevant field will be an added advantage.

REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE.

The successful applicant will be placed on consolidated salary with relevant fringe benefits and will equally enjoy the allowances normally attached to the positions of Registrar, Director of Works, Deputy Director of Works and Deputy Director, Information/PRO, Medical Officers, System Programmers, Technologists in Nigerian Universities and others as approved by the Governing Council from time to time. Please note that the appointment of Registrar is for a single tenure of five (5) years only.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

(i)      Interested candidates are required to submit twenty (20) copies of Word Processed applications and each should be accompanied by an up-to-date detailed curriculum vitae signed and dated by the applicant which must contain the candidate’s name in full, place and date of birth, marital status, number and ages of children, nationality, academic qualifications with dates degrees/certificates with classes/levels (copies of certificates to be enclosed), administrative experience, academic distinctions, membership of professional bodies with names of three (3) referees.

(ii)     Each application must be accompanied by 20 copies of the candidate’s vision and mission statement (not more than 1000 words) for the Registry or the Works Department at OSUSTECH as applicable.

(iii)    Each candidate must request three referees to forward their Confidential reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor.

(iv)    All applications are to be submitted under confidential cover in sealed envelopes marked “Registrar, Director of Work;” at the upper left hand corner and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa and marked ‘Confidential: for the attention of the Vice-Chancellor’ at the left hand top corner of the envelope to reach him not later than six (6) weeks from the date of publication (1 January, 2020).

(v)     Candidates to note that: No electronic application will be entertained for the positions.
