POSITION: University Librarian

UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

The University Librarian is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day to day administration of the University Library and the coordination of the Library Services in the University. He/She is also responsible for the short, medium and long term Planning administration and expansion of collections and services of the Library and their maintenance at a level to meet the leaching and research needs in all programmes of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The Candidates must be a Chartered Librarian and should also possess the following:

(i)      A good Honours Degree, Masters Degree and Ph.D in Library and information Science.

(ii)     A minimum of fifteen (15) years post graduation and professional experience in an institution of Higher Learning or other recognized body.

THE CANDIDATE

The candidate for the position is expected to be a person:

(i)      With good leadership qualities who can inspire and motivate staff under him/her

(ii)     Of high integrity who promotes excellence.

(iii)    With excellent physical and mental health.

(iv)     That is focused, innovative and computer literate.

(v)      Who must be older than 59 years at the time of application.

POSITION: DIRECTOR OF WORKS

The Director of Works is the Chief Technical Officer of the University responsible

to the Vice-Chancellor for the day to day management and maintenance of buddings equipment and other estates and the provision of utilities for the smooth running of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • The Candidates must have a good honours degree in the following Engineering, Building, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or similar professions from a recognized University, plus membership of relevant professional bodies.
  • The candidates must have at least fifteen (15) years post qualification service experience in a University or equivalent institution, and should not be below the rank the of Deputy Director. In exceptional case a candidate on the substantive rank of Chief Engineer or equivalent position with vast experience including as Acting Director may be considered.
  • Possession of higher degree will be an added advantage.

THE CANDIDATE

  • The Candidate for the position of Director of Works must exhibit considerable degree of competence responsiveness and demonstrable integrity for the control and supervision of all functions and activities of the Department of Estate and Works.
  • The Candidate must not be more than fifty-nine(59) years of age at the time of appointment and must be of sound health to be able growing University of Technology.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The appointment for a period of five (5) years effective from the date of assumption of duty, and may be extended by one year subject to good performance. The salary is as applicable to similar positions in Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the University Governing Council.

In addition to stating the names and addresses of Referees applicants should request each of their nominated Referees to send a confidential Report on them to the Registrar, Federal University of Technology, PMB, 1526, Owerri and “Confidential Report” clearly marked on the envelope which must be sealed.
